Carlos Julio mena…

Carlos Julio was born and raised in Mexico City where he spent his formative years pursuing an

education and an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from ITAM. After his

professional training in business, he studied for a postgraduate degree in finance at the

University of Auckland, New Zealand.

His interest in art was developed at an early age and he has been drawn to impressionism,

especially in artists like Renoir, Van Gogh, Monet, and Degas, while also being interested in

classic artists such as Rembrandt, Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Rafael. He is a self-taught artist

whose passion for creating art has grown over the last 2 decades.

In 2003, he decided to start painting after being inspired by Jackson Pollock's work. He began to

experiment with sketches using the same dripping technique as the late artist.  It was not until

2008 that he found his own style of painting which included interpreting movement of the

human body and animals, as well as iconic places.
