Karren Case

As it is with most artists, colors and shapes fascinate me.  Being able to combine them using various artistic mediums and techniques into something recognizable (or in abstraction) has become my passion, my joy, my therapy.  Currently, I am mostly working with oils and cold wax medium as this combination is a joy to use with palette knives, brushes and non-traditional tools.  I also paint using acrylics, alcohol inks, and watercolors often using both traditional and non-traditional tools and methods.  Being a huge fan of mixed media works, I sometimes add pastel, charcoal, inks, stencils, or paper collage elements to some of my paintings.  Most of my artwork represents the natural world, figures, and faces.

I enjoy many different creative arts, but It wasn’t until I retired that my painting went from the occasional effort to something I practice daily.  When I paint intuitively (as with most of my landscapes), I let the colors and shapes “talk to me” and I admit that I often talk back.  (Yes, I have conversations with my artwork!)  It’s this back and forth conversation that guides the outcome of the project.

My art practice has become a wonderful journey of learning and growth. There have been many hills and valleys, right and left turns, dead ends and open vistas.  I truly enjoy this creative journey I’m on and I hope you, the viewer, enjoys it as well.  If you don’t, well it’s all subjective… right?

I live in McKinney, Texas with my husband and three cats.  Our dogs have gone over the rainbow bridge.  When I’m not painting, I’m reading.  When I’m not doing either of those, I am probably outside watching the birds and other wildlife that visit my yard.

I invite you to visit www.karrencaseart.com to learn more about me and my art in words and in paint.
